Sung to the music of We Three Kings

Genealogists Lament

(Parody of We Three Kings.)

Jones and Smiths my relatives are
Anns and Johns they traveled afar
Poor handwriting, Spelling frightening
Pass me another beer

Smiths and Jones there’s plenty of those
Short in height and long in nose
Photos mislabeled, links disabled
Send me another shot

Behold it now the names do match
One more sip goes down the hatch
One less puzzle, one more guzzle
Glorious family tree

🌲

Tossing turning tormented sleep
Nameless gravestones, buried too deep
Courthouse fires and family liars
Christmas is great for wine

🍷

0hhhhh
Tree of Smith and branch of Jones
No known address — no such phone
No obit and no headstone
Came to this earth alone.
