Hello to all descendants of families from Gaeta!
My husband David and I seek your help to identify people in photographs handed down to his father Paul Petricone who passed away in 1988. David was born in Arlington MA in 1963 but while growing up in Bedford David had no knowledge of any living relatives. His father never shared information about his own life growing up in Somerville, about his parents Erasmo Petricone and Maria Granata or about Erasmo’s brothers who also emigrated from Gaeta settling in Somerville and establishing their own families.
Some of the surnames found in David’s family tree are: Albano, Brongo, Camelio, Capobianco, Capodanno, Caruso, Catanzano, Chinappi, Ciccariello, DeVellis, DiCiaccio, DiTucci, Magliozzi, Miele, Mitrano, Nocca, Petricone, Spinosa, Uttaro, Vaudo and more.
It wasn’t until we started making a family tree, visited the comune in Gaeta and began connecting with cousins through DNA matches we realized David had a large extended family that very likely could have been captured within the images in our possession.
If you or someone you know can help identify anyone in the photographs that will be posted online please email me at k.petricone@comcast.net or contact Frank Chinappi via this website. Grazie! Karen and David Petricone
David’s father: Paul Petricone born Jan 29, 1922 in Cambridge. They lived at 79 Franklin St, Somerville. |

These are David’s grandparents:
Raymond (Erasmo) Petricone
b. Oct 2, 1882
and
Maria Francesca Granata
b. Jan 7, 1899
Here they are seated in their wedding photograph in 1921.
The two people standing behind them show up in several other photographs and we suspect they were close to David’s grandparents – but who were they?

Erasmo Petricone in white coat at the fruit store he worked at in Cambridge or Somerville Mass we are unsure where/name. |
PETRICONE – In East Cambridge at the corner of Warren St. and Cambridge St. there was a grocery store call Petricone’s.
Also, Alex Rocco the movie actor was a Petricone. Given name was Alexander Rocco Petricone. Now deceased.
Alex Rocco’s daughter was my tenant for 1 month. Don’t remember her first name but she lives in Medford or Somerville.
Frank, I can I’d some of the photos. My mother’s family (Grassia) were friends with the Petricones.
Beautiful family treasures. I have several of the family names listed at the beginning of this post within my own family tree of extended relatives. Perhaps some of my cousins would be interested in learning more as it is more directly related to their branches of the family tree.
