Music For Family Tree Research

Sometimes when I am updating my family tree (adding in a new branch from the tree of a distance cousin) I like to listen to music.

Recently I have noticed that when certain songs come up in a random rotation, it changes the experience of updating my family tree.

I thought I would share some of those songs, and ask if you also listen to music while updating your family tree, if you would play some of these songs, and let me know how you feel.

Thanks!

Jim Croce – Time in a bottle – 1973

Going over the photos of graves, or the photos of faces of relatives from long ago, when this song plays, I may get melancholy while updating the family tree.

Five for Fighting – 100 Years

Another song that has an effect on me when updating the family tree.  100 years is only 3 generations, yet so much can happen in that time. When dealing with Endogamy, it becomes all too obvious how so few of us know the names of our great grand parents and who they are related too.

Miguel and Christina Aguilera Perform ‘Remember Me’ – The Disney Family Singalong: Volume II

Whether the official version, or the song from the movie clip both have a profound effect.
